What do you mean by Resilient Leadership (RL)?

Resilient Leadership is a new way of SEEING, THINKING and LEADING that helps leaders navigate the hidden dynamics of organizations more effectively.

What do you mean by hidden dynamics of an organization?

Every family, team, department, or organization is comprised of a Rational System and an Emotional System. The rational system is all the stuff we measure: your bank statement, mortgage payment, P&L statements, performance plans, growth targets, organizational charts, marketing budget, customer retention rates and many other items. Things we are consciously aware of. The emotional system is the other half of the story (and we believe an even bigger driver of results.) It is the instinctive pattern of automatic actions, reactions and interactions that shape the functioning of an individual, team or organization. These patterns occur largely on an unconscious level, and because they are instinctive (we are unaware of them) we call them the “hidden dynamics” or chemistry of an organization.

Where does Resilient Leadership come from?

The source code of Resilient Leadership comes from the work of Dr. Murray Bowen and his psychological concept called Bowen Family Systems Theory. Additionally, the Resilient Leadership Model resonates with research-based insights from and connections being made in such diverse disciplines as neuroscience, genetics and epigenetics, evolutionary biology, mindfulness, social and positive psychology, emotional intelligence, and more.

What are the top two benefits of coaching and training in RL?

Resilient leaders are able to: 1) Lead with calm, clarity and conviction in the midst of anxiety provoked by increasing complexity and accelerating change, and 2) Lead from strength. They know how to care for themselves emotionally, spiritually and physically so as to sustain their leadership efforts over time.
